Manchester beat the Pittsfield Dukes 5-0 at Northwest Park behind Bobby Blevins, who improved to 5-1 on the season.
The right hander from LeMoyne College, who would be drafted in the 13th round by the angles in 2007, scattered 10 hits over 7 2/3 innings with four strikeouts and no walks. Two of the three runs he gave up were unearned.
Bryan Hallberg, older brother of Silkworms career saves leader Rob Hallberg, retired the final four dukes – three with strikeouts – for his first save.
John Fitzpatrick had two singles and an RBI. Andy Parrino, Gil Zayas and Keith Connors all drove in runs

In an exciting game, although .not a pretty one defensively, Manchester
rallied from a 4-1 deficit to beat its host Berkshire Dukes 7-6.
The teams combined for six errors, leading to four unearned runs. The Worms pushed two across in the sixth and took the lead for good in the eighth. RBI singles from Jay Maule and Brian Hansen, plus a Duke error, pushed three runs across in the second to last frame.
Winning pitcher Graham Godfrey pitched three solid innings in relief of starter Matt Reilly. Closer Mitch Heckert allowed a ninth inning leadoff double to pinch hitter Chris Ramirez, but he stranded Ramirez and earned his fourth save

Tonight, Northeast Park hosted the Ryan DiPietro show. The lefty from Eastern CT, and the 2005 preseason D III player of the year, struck out 10 Middletown (now North Shore Navigotors by way of Holyoke) and held them to five hits in a brilliant 5-0 complete game shutout. DiPietro picked up his first win of the year, and lowered his ERA to 1.54.
Manchester struck for 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd . The first of these two runs came when Ryan Cuscovitch singled home Ben Copeland. The Silkies tacked on three more in the 6th, two of which came on a Shawn McGill double.

Starter Justin Bissonnette pitched 6 shutout innings. Unfortunately, the Danbury Westerners got to him, and reliever CJ Giampaolo for a five run seventh as Danbury beat their hosts 5-2. The loss was the Worm’s fourth in a row, dropping them to 11-20.
Manchester pushed 2 across in the bottom of the fourth. Clemson’s Ryan Klosterman singled, stole second and came home on Zane Green’s single. Green was doubled home by third baseman Dan Trubia.

Manchester’s bats erupted for 5 8th inning runs, as the Silkworms defeated the host Newport Gulls 8-4. Trailing 4-1 in the seventh, Chris Denorfia, now with the Reds’ AA affiliate, hit his second homer of the year and knocked in three. Jesse Nelson also homered- with his team leading fifth- and knocked in three.
Jonah Bayliss, now with the KC Royal organization, started the game and went 5 innings, allowing 2 unearned runs. Brian Mascaro tossed 2 1/3 innings of two run ball in his relief, and earned the win.

The Twisters beat future Major Leaguer Jonah Bayliss 9-0 while the offense could only muster up three hits – singles by Mike “Dirt” Dougan, Sean Roach and Mike Lorento.
