College 2008:  Appeared in 28 games as a true freshman; made 18 starts.  Hit and slugged .119; had an on base percentage of .224.  Made just 2 errors in the field for a stellar .983 fielding percentage.  A two-sport star in high school, this was Mike’s first year where was able to fully concentrate on baseball.  Had an RBI single vs. Kentucky on 2/24.  Went 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI in Fairfield’s 3/14 loss to St. John’s.   Went 1 for 4 with a run scored in 12-11 conference defeat of Rider on 4/20.  Drew a walk and scored a run in 5/11 loss to Canisius.  Scored ½ of Fairfield’s runs in non-conference contest against Iona on 4/26.   Drove in a run in 13-3 conference win over Niagara on 3/29. 

 

High School:   Starred for Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford.  Hit .390, scored 23 runs, drove in 31 runs while not allowing a single passed ball as a senior.  First team Hartford Courant all-state and all-conference honoree.  Selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 41st round of the 2007 Major League Amateur draft.  Also played quarterback and power forward for Northwest Catholic.  Was the Courant’s all-state quarterback as junior.
